WELCOME to the pirate cove Classic
Admission is $10 - cash only, children 5 and under are free.  No outside food or drink, or stadium tents will be allowed into the stadium. Please also adhere to all Union County policies regarding facilities (ex. no tobacco, alcohol, firearms, etc). 



 
Union County Public Schools has experienced a number of safety incidents at athletic events around the county. Effective, Oct. 6, UCPS will implement the following protocols:
 
Only clear bags, no larger than 4.5” x 6.5” will be allowed in events/games. Medical and baby bags are subject to search.

Middle and elementary students must be accompanied by an adult (21 years or older) to attend events and games.

​Arrival and Check IN 

Parking
All buses and equipment trailers MUST enter campus via the Ridge Road entrance. Your GPS will likely bring you to campus via PRICE Road, but PLEASE DO NOT follow those directions. That entrance is for spectators only due to connector roads being closed for student safety reasons.  Using Porter Ridge Middle School in your GPS helps with most systems to take you to the correct entrance.

Please refer to the provided maps for directions. To assist, there will be signs to campus placed at various spots along the route to campus. When you arrive on campus, our parent volunteers will assist your group with bus and equipment truck parking. All personal vehicles will be required to park in the spectator lot.

Check-In
Participant registration is located at the Ridge Rd. entrance campus. You will be given an registration packet upon arrival and guided to your predesignated parking area for your busses and equipment vehicles.. All directors and staff will receive admission badges that will also serve as admission to directors hospitality. Students and bus drivers will receive a wrist band at check-in. Bus drivers will also receive a gift card redeemable at our concession stand for their meal this day. While we would love to accommodate everyone, we can can only accommodate directors and staff in the hospitality area.

​Each band will be provided with at least two guides. They will greet you at the registration table at your "dress time" and remain with you until your band returns to the parking area after your performance. They will be responsible for taking your band from location to location, and will ensure that the event moves smoothly and stays on schedule. Please know they are just doing their job when they ask to remain on schedule and to move from location to location. DRESSING ROOMS
Dressing rooms will be available for your students. If you choose to make use of them, your guide will lead your group to the dressing rooms (as labeled on the map) at your scheduled time. Please ensure that a male and female chaperone travel and stay with your group to supervise the rooms. ​

Performance Logistics

Field
Entry\Exit
Please arrive with your marching unit at the entry gate (as shown on the enclosed map) at the assigned time.  This gate is large enough to accommodate paired marching. Bands will enter as soon as the previous band completes their performance.

After your performance your group (marching members) will exit the field side A/side 1 and through the double gate to the immediate right of the home stands.  Front ensemble will exit in the same manner they entered on the track. Your guide can help you through this process.  Water will be available before and after your performance

Field Power
We do have electricity on the field; if you need electricity please let a PR band director know as soon as possible so accommodations can be prepared. However, we are not responsible for the operation and stability of the powersource. Use this source at your own risk.

AWARDS Information

Awards
​Drum Majors and student leaders, as well as directors and staff, are invited to come to the field for the awards ceremony following the host band’s performance. First, second, and third place awards will be given for band placement in each class. First and second place awards will be given in the following captions: music performance, visual performance, general effect, percussion, drum major, and guard. In addition, there will be a spirit award and grand champion trophy for Division I (1A-3A) as well as Division II (4A-6A). Class Breaks are made with the natural breaks in band sizing.

Ties
​In the event of a tie, the music performance score will be used as a tie-breaker. If this does not break the tie, the overall effect (music and visual) score, followed by the visual performance score will be used to determine the placement.
Recap Packets
​Recap packets will be available at the trophy table immediately following the awards ceremony. Each band will receive a full recap of all classes, all judges’ sheets, and all air grams in this packet. Judges commentary and a performance video will be available in that packet as well via flash drive.

Awards Retreat
With a large number of bands participating in this year's event, and with the knowledge that this is a long day for all involved, we will do our absolute best to move the awards ceremony along at a timely pace. We will send out an awards staging sheet to you prior to the event so that awards can be presented more quickly and efficiently. While we encourage your students to enjoy the well-deserved moment of receiving an award, we do ask that salutes be created with time restraints in mind. In addition, we will announce the recipient of the next award as awards are being received for the previous exchange of each trophy. ​
