Hello Band Families,
Firstly, let me start by saying that I hope everyone is still safe and healthy during this time. This has been a stressful time for us all and I'm sure such a high level of uncertainty has not been easy on anyone. With there being so much information coming at you, I thought it better to use this page in a FAQ style format to make navigation easier to digest. As always please feel free to contact me or any director by email. We can also accept your call or text at (704) 729-4509.
It should be noted that in order to purchase the ticket being offered according to the procedures below, the tickets must be purchased during the assigned purchasing window or the ticket will automatically move to another individual. There can be no exceptions here. No employee IDs are to be used in place of purchasing a ticket this year. Only fans with tickets, or those working the event, will be permitted into the stadium parking area. At this time, there will be no tickets sold on-site as we expect to pre-sell all available tickets. PRHS AD will oversee the ticketing process and will communicate with coaches/directors how that will occur.
Again we realize that this has been a hard time for all of our Pirate families and that this uncertainty has caused a lot of stress and various emotions. If there is anything we as directors can do for you or if you just need help making sense of everything going on with all these updates coming from multiple sources. We are here for you and We are still PR even during a Pandemic.

Will there Be Marching Band This Year?
Short answer is the time is now!
The entire marching band is eligible to perform at this year's football games. This something that the directors have fought very hard to do for our students and we are grateful to have a supportive administrative team!
On nights where we are hosting varsity football games, and other athletic events involving our marching band, there will be no tickets sold to visiting fans.
Marching Band will use social distancing on entrance, exit, and in seating. The full band will be attending all home football games and the full band is invited to perform at one home soccer game. The Band program will also use the stadium for their Big Show to allow underclass Band Members to invite a parent for their performance.
We are still the biggest advocates for the members of the Band of Pirates and are looking forward to giving each of our students a rewarding and meaningful experience this year with a more community based focus. As always this is a fluid situation as we hope that we can have more positive outcomes by the end of the season!

How Much are Fees this year?
Fees are $75 for the 2020-2021 season. We think this is a fair price considering most of what we normally do is canceled, but also keeping in mind that we are still doing our best to provide as many opportunities as possible. This year's fees will apply to the following expenses. Every new member will still receive a member hoodie and shorts. Every member will still receive a "show shirt". We are still purchasing new music, utilizing staff where necessary, and providing performance opportunities which includes the purchase of new recording equipment for virtual performances. Please feel free to contact prbbtreasurer@gmail.com for any questions or concerns about band fees.
What are we doing to keep our students safe?
Safety is important to us! We have a strict set of guidelines created by UCPS that must be followed in order to insure the health of our band members.
- All Students will be required to fill out an initial screening form before returning or entering rehearsal for the 1st time.
- Daily Screenings before entering rehearsal for the first time.
- Daily temperature checks before entering rehearsal
- All PRHS band students are required to maintain a social distance of 10 feet in order to mitigate the dangers of airborne water droplets or aerosols.
- No sharing of instruments, mouthpieces, or sticks.
- Students must bring their own water and hydration system to practice.
- All persons must wear a mask when not playing at all times including students and instructors/directors.
Do We have any volunteer needs?
We are working with our administration to understand what kind of help we can have during games.
We do know that we will not be able to have you on campus at all if you have not updated or filled out a volunteer form and been approved by the county. They can be found here:

What will Football season look like
This is an ever evolving question that will take sometime and training from our superiors to answer. We are committed to giving our students a good experience, but are also equally committed to your safety. Please be aware that state restrictions can change at any time. Please read the information below.
NFHS will be streaming the football games each night. This is a paid service where the camera focuses on the football game and is controlled by a computer. We do not know if the band would appear in the streaming.
PR Band of Pirates will stream the Marching Band only (entrance, band in bleachers only, exit) during all 3 football games to be shown on PR Band of Pirates facebook page which is a private facebook page. The football game/field will not be shown.

Friday 5/14 Band Big Show in PR Stadium
· Two performances at this time (to be reduced to one performance if stadium numbers increase)
· Ticketing to be determined. At this time it would be one ticket per band student for one of performances. If additional tickets are available they would go to senior band members first.
The ticketing procedures described is in alignment with the philosophy of allowing all student-athletes and student-band members to participate, first and foremost. Next we provide priority for a parent of each senior participant to get admittance in advance of others. We created a plan to allow for those groups that can participate in a meaningful way at a different event to do so to allow for more parent attendance across all groups. We continue to hope that the NC Governor will increase numbers of attendees in the school stadium, but until that happens we have tried to do the best we can with the small number of tickets we can offer.
