Greetings from the JUNGLE!
We are in the heart of the marching band season and continue to make improvements to our show!
Mrs. Tomberlin and Mr. Elliott for covering classes last week while I was out with the flu!
Band Parents and Chaperones for another successful Friday and Saturday
Band of Pirates for another great performance on Saturday
Also this came from the Assistant Principal at Independence:
As an assistant principal and parent of a student at Independence High School, I want to thank you, your band director, and your students for showing my students so much respect Friday night at the football game. Our band program is in a rebuilding process and our band director, Jared Johnson, is working with our students endless hours to create a strong band.
I am very proud of the Indy group and thought they did a great job Friday night. I am also very appreciative and proud of your students for watching and supporting of our students at the end of the game. Their roaring applause for my kids was amazing. Band is about so much more than music and marching. It is about leadership, teamwork, and character building.
Both of our schools have great students and great band directors. I expect outstanding outcomes from both groups in the future. Once again, I appreciate their enthusiasm and support.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Why doesn’t the band perform at halftime for homecoming?
The homecoming court uses up the half to crown the princesses and queen.
What happens if it rains on Saturday?
Usually there is a rain plan for the competition. We will review those procedures. Most of the time it is a stand still performance inside the gym.
What if my child wants to go the homecoming dance?
They are more than welcome to perform and then leave after the performance so that they may attend the dance. I will need a note to tell me that they are leaving with a parent.
That should be it for the week! Have a great one!
