FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What does it mean to “clean” the show?
This means that we go back through the show and correct all of the mistakes in music, marching and visual effects for the show. Although a somewhat tedious experience, it provides for greater excellence through performance. It gives our band a more polished sound and look. This will serve us well as we go through the rest of the season.
When and where is the Winter Guard Interest meeting?
It is tonight at 6 pm in either the auditorium or band room. There will be signs posted.
What is expected at the interest meeting?
This will be about a 30 minute meeting that will give an overview of the season, the theme of the show, and will be general information about winter guard. We will NOT be discussing the financial responsibility at the meeting. We can only base the financial responsibility when we see where our interest level is.
Why are the 8th graders joining us at the football game?
Each year we invite the 8th graders to perform with us in the stands as a way of recruiting for the high school band. This is always a fun night.
Will the 8th graders be expected to learn the show and march it with the high schoolers?
No. They will only play stand tunes with the high school band.
What do the 8th graders wear to the football game? Will they be issued a uniform?
The 8th graders will wear blue jeans, a Porter Ridge shirt and tennis shoes. If they do not have a Porter Ridge shirt, then they can wear a black, purple, white or gray shirt. They will not be issued a uniform.
What will the 8th graders eat at the game? Will they be allowed to purchase concessions?
The 8th graders have already been informed that they should bring money for concession stand and will visit it during the 3rd quarter break.
Have a great week!!!!
