Here is your weekly update! Please read this email thoroughly as it has vital information for this week.
Congratulations to the Band of Pirates on their score of 90.32 at the Burns Competition and winning Grand Champion at East Rowan High School. Both competitions had a high degree of competitiveness. The band has steadily made improvement all season long and it paid off in a big way this weekend!
Congratulations to the Seniors on completing their final competitive performance of their high school career!
Thanks to all of the pit crew dads and moms and chaperones for working well with each other and with the students this past weekend. It was a busy weekend but ran very smoothly.
NEWS YOU CAN USE
- This weekend is Pirate Cove Classic. We need ALL THE HELP from adults that we could possibly receive. This and the fruit sale are THE BIGGEST fundraisers we do all year. The more donations from adults and local businesses, and the more help that you can provide, the more successful we can be at this event. Please contact email@example.com to get involved. Even if you can only do a couple of hours, that is great! The more, the merrier, the happier and the better!!!
- Fruit Sale continues now through November 1st. We have approximately 1 ½ weeks to sell as much fruit and pecans as we can! Let’s make this THE BEST fruit sale we have ever had!!! I would love to fill up an entire transfer truck’s trailer!
- Please continue to send in drinks and water for Pirate Cove Classic.

Please do not ask for exceptions as we all have our duty assignments and some areas will need extra help.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why do we not compete at our own contest?
We do not compete to ensure equity with the judging panel. We pay our judges for the day and do not want there to be a conflict of interest.
How many people are expected on campus?
How much is it to get in?
$7 for admission. I fully encourage all parents to work the event, that way you do not have to pay your way in.
Why do the students have to be here so early?
This is to make sure that the area is completely set up for all of our visitors and we are ready to roll. Set up takes a good amount of time.
Why do the students have to clean up?
Since we are using the facility, we are all expected to clean up for the event. The more students clean up, the less everyone has to do, and the quicker we can get home for the evening.
Do you have an expected time for clean up to be done?
7:30 pm – this is a rough estimate. However, should be close to the right time, if we all work together.
Which bands are attending? Do you have a time table?
Yes. I will attach it to this email.
What areas will be used for the Pirate Cove Classic?
We will be using the entire bus lot, the middle school fields, the field next to the band room, the marching band field, the gym area, the auxillary gym area, the cafeteria, the stadium and all points in between. This is an extremely large event.
Do we need extra tables?
Contact firstname.lastname@example.org to see what extra needs we need.
