Here is your weekly update:
*Both of these groups have been doing a marvelous job this year. We are slowly moving toward making all the students responsible for the equipment and uniforms. I have enjoyed having these students become more responsible for the band program here.
Congratulations on 1st place this past Saturday! And a score of 87.9!!! This is a great start to the season!
Chaperones – Thank you for all of your hard work and help on Friday and Saturday night!
We received NUMEROUS compliments on the behavior of our group at Saturday’s competition. You are representing your school with dignity and pride!

I am aware that the SAT is this Saturday, students will take the test and then show up to rehearsal afterward. We approach this issue every year during marching band season. Most of the students have let me know that they are taking the SAT.
The schedule for Saturday is attached to this email.

Why is the guard rehearsing on Friday and not going to the game?
In discussions with Mr. Wade, Mrs. Tomberlin and Mr. Elliott, we felt that if we were not marching the show at halftime, then the color guard could take the night off. The color guard also wants to feel that they are more than prepared for Saturday’s competition. By having this extra rehearsal, it will better prepare them for their competitive show. Therefore, with this change, the color guard will not attend this game because we will not have a 6th bus for Friday night.
Why do we go early to band competitions?
As with our band competition, other band programs use them as fundraising events. Therefore, we go to support other school band programs as well as watch the smaller sized bands perform and support their efforts on the marching band field.
Why do we have rehearsal the days of competition?
This is a way for us to review before the competition and do last minute cleaning so that we can be prepared for the evening.
Have a great week!
